Upcoming Events & Activities

FFC International Event: March 27-29, 2019

This event is scheduled immediately prior to the Hume Lake Firefighter’s Retreat to allow those traveling from great distances to attend both. This is a more intimate time to get to meet others in FFC from across the nation or around the world. This years speaker is Phil Scott from Northern Ireland. There are plenty activities, including the Ultimate Frisbee competition, the very popular Woman’s Tea, and free time to visit or relax. The extra two days prior to the Hume Lake Firefighter's Retreat really makes it an extended weekend getaway. Contact Hume Lake Christian Camps at (800) 965-4863 or (559) 305-7770 to register.

Hume Lake Firefighter’s Retreat: March 29-31, 2019

This is FFC’s biggest event of the year. Hume Lake Christian Camps, located in the beautiful Kings Canyon National Forest is probably the finest Christian Camp in the world. FFC has partnered with Hume since the late 1970’s and has enjoyed the worship, teaching, and activities (not to mention the outstanding food) that Hume has packaged into their camp. This year’s speaker is Fernando Villicana, a retired firefighter from Los Angles City Fire Department, and pastor at Firehouse Church in Brea, California. This retreat often sells out fast, but put your name on the waiting list anyway. It seems that private cabins always seem to come available as the need arises. Contact Hume Lake Christian Camps at (800) 965-4863 or (559) 305-7770 to register. For those traveling from out-of-state, or Internationally, contact Pat Stilson at midslope@icloud for assistance in registration and housing.

Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC), Indianapolis, Iindiana: April 9-13, 2019

FFC will host a booth FDIC, which is the largest Fire Expo and Training in the world. As of this time, over 33,000 firefighters have registered and are planning to attend. In past years, we have had firefighters from around the world stop by our booth and we’ve been able to pass out FFC Bibles and literature as well as pray for many firefighters and their families. Our staff this year will include Paddy & Wendy Quinn (FFC Northern Ireland), John Skillman (FFC Lake County, IL) and Jerry & Jennifer White (San Diego, CA). If you are planning to attend FDIC, please stop by the booth to say hi.

Mission Possible (MP) 2019: May 4-27, 2019

MP is a unique mission. Active duty FFC firefighters are paired with a Northern Ireland firefighter (NIFRS) and will go on duty in the fire station with their NIFRS partner. International firefighters have the opportunity to share experiences and ideas in a way only firefighters can on this short term exchange program. More important, they are there to represent Christ as they serve. This call to Mission is both a privilege and responsibility. Next year we will be looking for a US agency to host.

Firefighters For Christ: The Next Chapter: May 19, 2019

This event is a time for leaders and those interested in the ministry of Firefighters For Christ to gather and connect with other chapters and to hear from FFC leadership regarding the vision for the ‘Next Chapter’ of the ministry. It will be a time of inspiration, fellowship, equipping and encouraging one another in our faith at home and in the firehouse.

Peru: June 20, 2019 through July 1, 2019

We will be participating in a mission outreach called “1Nation1Day” organized by a mission group called “Missions.Me”. Their vision is to organize 5,000 international missionaries to work side-by-side with 5,000 Peruvian believers to share Christ throughout Peru during the span of one week culminating June 29th at gatherings in huge venues throughout the nation. Our part in this outreach will be mistering to Peruvian firefighters via training and sharing the gospel. Catch the vision by watching their video at missions.me. Contact Dan Rodriguez at dan.rodriguez.ffc@gmail.com if God is leading you to be part of this team.

World Police and Fire Games: August 2019

Three FFC members will be traveling to Chengdu, China to compete in the World Police and Fire Games. Craig Neill (from Northern Ireland), Victor Laveaga and Paul Steusel (both from the USA) will be competing in various track and field events. In addition to competing, FFC will have a booth to give out Bibles, tracts, bookmarks and messages to international athletes. FFC has had a continuous presence at the WPFG from the 1980’s when the WPFG began. The games are held every two years. We encourage FFC members to participate in the games, either to compete or to ‘cheer’ on our athletes and share the gospel. The next games (in 2021) will be held in the Netherlands.

Maine State Firefighters Annual Convention: September 13-15, 2019

Last year Jared Blake, the Chapter Leader in Maine, set up an FFC Booth at their State’s Annual Fire Convention. They were able to pass out Bibles, gospel tracks and other items free to firefighters. This year the Maine Chapter will once again host an outreach table. They also plan to place an ad in the convention’s yearbook which will present the gospel message. The convention will be held at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds this September 13th-15th.
