HERE'S A MESSAGE TO FFC FROM OUR DEAR FRIENDS AT HUME LAKE CHRISTIAN CAMPS / NEW ENGLAND!
I pray that this note finds all of you safe and well in this trying time. While the human side of us probably cannot comprehend most of the craziness that envelops us all, we also know that we don’t need to worry, because a far higher power is at work in all of this, one we can trust to have our best interests at the end. Personally, I think the entire world has just about gone insane, but I know, somehow, someway God is writing the script, and we just need to prayerfully play our part in God’s plan. I know I will continue to seek God’s will in my life, and attempt to not fall victim to the world of divisiveness surrounding us!
I am writing to you because over a year ago, at our last FFC retreat, you expressed interest in our work week at Hume New England (HNE). While we certainly don’t know what uncertainties lay before us, it is time to start planning for our work week at HNE. This year, the week, God Willing, will be Sept 21-25. At this time we know funding for our work projects will definitely be limited, so we will be concentrating on projects that will be labor intensive and inexpensive. Among these projects are completing a trail from the main camp to the new ropes course and tearing down the very old “infirmary” that has almost torn itself down at this point, and replacing it with a fire pit. There will be a lot of work to tear out the infirmary foundation, cap off utilities, rebuild the grade, install drainage, and begin landscaping including boulders, trees and pebble rock. We also may have a carpentry project installing some flower boxes and other wood on the front of the dining hall. Wives are encouraged to attend, plenty of work for everyone.
While we don’t even know if we will be able to even have the workweek this year, if everything works out as we would like, we will need lots of willing hands to take part. All you need are some work clothes, old shoes, and a pair of gloves, and a willing spirit to bring along to accomplish much for the team at HNE!
As long as you can get to the airport, either Hartford or Albany, we can pick you up and drop you off if you need, we will house and feed you for the week, (or more time on either end of the week, if you would like more work). Remember this can also be a great opportunity to visit New York, Boston, or any of the other nearby destinations, hopefully coinciding with the gorgeous fall colors, again, either before or after the workweek!
Feel free to share this message to anyone you might think would be interested!
