Firefighters For Christ Northern Ireland
Jude 23
Firefighters For Christ in Northern Ireland started in February 1998 at a breakfast meeting in Belfast. It was birthed from the long standing Fire Services Christian Fellowship. In 2009 we became part of Firefighters For Christ International at their International Conference in Hume Lake. We are employees of the Fire and Rescue Service who see the importance of meeting together on a regular basis to encourage each other to live our lives for Jesus Christ. This in itself takes many forms, from organised meetings to casual coffee after work, taking every opportunity to invest in each other wherever and whenever we can.
Fire Services Christian Fellowship
The Fellowship story began in 1961 with the formation of the Glasgow Fire Brigade and Glasgow Salvage Corps Christian Fellowship. This is believed to be the first established Christian Fellowship in the British Fire Services, although there has been London City Missionaries working amongst London Firefighters since 1845 and over the years there has been a small number of isolated Christian groups in County and Metropolitan Fire Brigades. In 1974, a group of Christians met together and formed a Fellowship within the Liverpool Fire Brigade and Salvage Corps. Contact was made with the Christian Fellowship and in Glasgow Fire Service representatives from both groups met at Penrith in Cumbria where the National Fellowship was born. Over the years many groups sprung up throughout the UK and enjoyed many years of Fellowship. In 1998 in Belfast, Firefighters for Christ Northern Ireland was birthed from The Fire Services Christian Fellowship.
